چکیده
Calanoid copepods are a well-recognized taxonomic group of Crustacea. They were already placed, with one cyclopoid (Scribella) and five calanoid (Acartia, Calanus, Candacia, Euchirus (= Euchaeta), Pontella) genera, under single unit, the Calanidae, by Dana [1]. Giesbrecht Sars two early principal contributors to taxonomy Copepoda, including Calanoida. Based on location body articulation, [2] divided into groups, Gymnopleoden Podopleoden. All copepods, characterized an articulation between fifth pedigerous (leg-bearing) somite genital somite, separating anterior part (prosome) posterior (urosome), placed suborder Gymnoplea. Podoplea contained all other having this located fourth somites. According structure antennules in males, further Gymnoplea tribes, Amphaskandria (males both similar) Heterarthrandria modified). [3-9], hand, suggested seven distinct types Harpacticus, Cyclops, Notodelphys, Monstrilla, Caligus, Lernaea, respectively respresenting divisions (Suborders) i.e., Calanoida, Harpacticoida, Cyclopoida, Notodelphyoida, Monstrilloida, Caligoida, Lernaeoida. The Calanoida corresponding [2], was three sections: Amphascandria (both males alike only transformed slightly without any genicular structure, greater number genera adult distinguished conspicuous transformation great reduction oral parts), Isokerandria difference much same appearance sexes), (one male similar that female, peculiarly powerful grasping organ). Modifications classification within have then been proposed reviewed Huy & Boxshall [10]. In 1974, Andronov [11] phylogenetic relationships higher taxa Order included nine superfamilies: Augapatiloidea, Bathypontioidea, Centropagoidea, Eucalanoidea, Megacalanoidea, Platycopioidea, Pseudocyclopoidea, Pseudocalanoidea, Riocalanoidea. As results Andronov’s [12] change names some superfamilies conform International Code Zoological Nomenclature subsequently Halsey’s [13] amendment, now consists ten 43 families (30 families, highlighted red color, present China seas). 1. Superfamily Arietelloidea Sars, 1902 (changed from Augaptiloidea) (24, 134) Family Arietellidae

Reproductive cycles of dominant calanoid copepods in the North Sea
The seasonal cycles of reproduction of the dominant copepods Acartia clausi, Temora longicornis, Centropages hamatus, C. typicus and Pseudocalanus spp. were studied at Helgoland Roads, southern North Sea. Egg production rate, clutch size, number of spawning females and prosome length were compared with temperature and phytoplankton concentration. Female A. clausi, T. longicornis and Pseudocalan...
متن کاملTemperature cycles affect colonization potential of calanoid copepods.
Marine calanoid copepods colonize new habitats, and some become invasive. Their fitness, measured by intrinsic growth rate and net reproductive rate, is partially driven by biochemical processes. Thus, it is a function of ambient temperature. Biochemical processes may not be approximated well by yearly mean temperature alone when temperature cycles yearly, largely. Higher order moments may also...
متن کاملCalanoid copepods, feeding currents, and the role of gravity.
Feeding currents of free-swimming calanoid copepods, observed through an expanded krypton laser beam and a back-focus dark-field optical system, show that these planktonic animals generate a double shear field to help in detecting food. The interrelation between flow field, perception of food items, and body orientation explains why these animals are generally negatively buoyant.
متن کاملMeningeal-like organization of neural tissues in calanoid copepods (Crustacea).
Meninges, the connective tissue of the vertebrate central nervous system (CNS), have not been recognized in invertebrates. We describe the ultrastructure of the adult brain, antennules, and cord in five marine copepods: Calanus finmarchicus, Gaussia princeps, Bestiolina similis, Labidocera madurae, and Euchaeta rimana. In all of these locations we identified cell types with characteristics of t...
متن کاملChemoreceptors and feeding in calanoid copepods (Arthropoda: Crustacea).
Ultrastructural studies of the mouthparts of the calanoid copepod Diaptomus pallidus have revealed the presence of numerous chemoreceptors, and the apparent absence of mechanoreceptors. The setae contain no muscles, and the setules are noncellular extensions of their chitin wall. This allows a new insight into the selective feeding of zooplankters.
